Dr. Traci Wells, Director of Education for the Global Health Program (GHP), has a PhD in International Education from UCLA and an MA in French Literature from UC Santa Barbara. Dr. Wells plays a central role in most of the global health education programs for medical students at DGSOM, starting with the Global Health Selective, which prepares students for ethical global health engagement while learning from multidisciplinary faculty and partners.

Dr. Wells also designs pre-departure and in-country reflective curricula to prepare and support students during clinical rotations or global health research experiences with the aim of fostering deeper critical reflection and learning in global health. She collaborates closely with partner medical schools worldwide to facilitate clinical placements, while also welcoming visiting students from these institutions.

In addition, Dr. Wells supports medical students pursuing the Global Health Concentration at DGSOM by connecting them with mentors at UCLA and beyond. She enjoys mentoring trainees at all levels and supporting their global health education needs.

Dr. Wells has lived in France and in Mali. She speaks French fluently and is conversational is Spanish and in Bambara. She has experience in qualitative research and is passionate about equity in both health and education spaces.
