About
Dr. DeUgarte is a Professor of Clinical Surgery in the Division of Pediatric Surgery at UCLA and Chief of Pediatric Surgery at Harbor-UCLA. For the past decade, Dr. DeUgarte has been helping build pediatric surgical capacity in Mozambique with the development of partnerships, training workshops, bilateral exchanges, and clinical research. In his role as GHP's Global Surgery Liaison, Dr. DeUgarte works to support DGSOM medical students with an interest in global surgery.
Dr. DeUgarte's interests include the implementation of quality improvement projects in limited-resource settings, including in Los Angeles public hospitals. Dr. DeUgarte also serves on the Global Committee for the American Pediatric Surgical Association.
