Affiliated Partner Travel Scholarships

Supporting Medical Students Who Participate in Clinical Electives with Our Affiliated Partners

GHP offers an Affiliated Partner Travel Scholarship to support students who wish to participate in a clinical elective at one of our affiliated partner sites. A limited number of scholarships of $500 per student will be awarded to applicants who have confirmed participation in one of these electives.

Students may only receive one per academic year, and are not eligible if they receive funding to participate in one of GHP’s other clinical elective opportunities. Students who receive this funding are required to attend GHP’s Pre-Departure Orientation offered each year in January/February.

Qualification criteria

1. Must be a currently enrolled DGSOM student in Good Academic/ProfessionalStanding

2. Must not be participating in one of GHP’s other funded clinical electives

3. Must be receiving academic credit for the clinical elective

Required documentation

• Curriculum Vitae
• A brief cover letter, including the location of the elective, the dates of the rotation, and your goals and objectives for participating in the elective.
• Confirmation from your Assistant Dean that you are in Good Academic/Professional Standing

Post-travel requirements

After returning to UCLA, you must submit the following to Vijeta Vaswani at VVaswani@mednet.ucla.edu:

1. A one-page summary of your learning experience

2. Helpful tips for future students who participate in this clinical elective

Timeline

The deadline to apply for these scholarships is rolling. Affiliated partner scholarships will be awarded on a first-come, first-serve basis, as long as the qualification criteria have been met.
